Who would have told us that Sunday churros were so deeply rooted in the weekend habits we loved the most, that we wouldn’t skip arroz or the roast lamb from our mother-in-law, or that we have simply made vermouth the best excuse to see our friends whom we were going to love brunch with. But it is hard to resist its culinary charms, and even more now that it can become the best plan for Sundays this summer.
Perhaps it is due to its endless buffets, its eggs Benedictine and its avocado toasts, or its delicious desserts; this fusion between breakfast and lunch, sweet and savory, has been gaining followers until it has become the essential appointment on any weekend schedule.
And that is why we bring you six perfect places to enjoy the best brunch: good cooking in a relaxed atmosphere and the most sophisticated spaces. Because this is how you face the week ahead in a different way.
El Jardín de Orfila, el lugar perfecto para disfrutar del brunch del domingo en el centro de Madrid.
Orfila. Orfila Street, 6.
In this central hotel located just a few meters from Paseo de la Castellana and Plaza de Colón, the brunch is also led by Mario Sandoval, the hotel’s executive chef, and is enjoyed in its lovely interior courtyard, El Jardín de Orfila. The culinary proposal that celebrates the essence of our cuisine can be enjoyed on Sundays from 13:00 to 15:30 (the hotel will be closed in August).
With a price of 75 euros for adults and 29 euros for children under 11, Orfila brunch consists of a buffet, five main dishes and a dessert table to cap it off. The offering can begin with proposals such as ham and Iberian cuts, a selection of cheeses, dishes like pasta all’Amatriciana or mortadella truffled focaccia and mozzarella.
Among the mains, and to choose from, there are a Galician sirloin steak tartare or tuna and avocado tartare, a seared sea bass pil-pil with yellow chili, a hamburger with brava sauce or oxtail brioche. And to accompany all these delights, various juices, a glass of Moët & Chandon, coffees and infusions.
The Bubba Shrimp Roll from Caradura’s brunch, available Wednesday to Sunday.
Caradura. Hartzenbusch Street, 9.
Classic cuisine, contemporary rhythm, and a very polished aesthetic come together in one of the latest culinary proposals to join Madrid’s capital dining scene. This Chamberí restaurant reinterprets classics with technique and attention to detail, offering two menus throughout the day. And the morning menu is built around brunch-style preparations.
Pancakes, scrambled eggs, avocado toast or mascarpone with salted caramel, natural yogurt with granola or crispy potatoes or fries with parmesan—the start hides the essence of this breakfast-to-lunch fusion that invites you at any time.
Glazed carrots with agave on a cream cheese base and a duo of hummus and baba ganoush complete the classics, to which are added three creations among breads: the Croque Madame, with natural ham and Emmental cheese, the Bubba Shrimp Roll with crispy prawns, or the French Dispatch with roast beef. An original and carefully crafted proposal available Wednesday to Sunday, for those who do not want to wait until the end of the week to enjoy the good things.
El brunch del hotel Barceló Imagine, situado cerca de la estación de Chamartín.
Barceló Imagine. Agustín de Foxá Street, 32.
In the north of Madrid you can also enjoy brunch, and in the Chamartín district the ideal space to do it is this hotel where, for 35 euros (drinks not included, reservations on the website), you can start Sunday by savoring the calm before the restart of the routine. And it does so by betting on dishes as quintessential Madrid offerings as porras, as well as an unmissable board of cold cuts and cheeses, a butter croissant or hummus.
Among the dishes to choose from, there are options for all tastes: Eggs Benedict are not missing; you can opt for the classic tortilla española, decide on Nordic bread toast with avocado and poached egg, or choose between the ever-reliable hamburger or the roasted guinea fowl and poached egg bagel. The gathering ends with dessert, with three classics to choose from: pancakes with cream, carrot cake with yogurt ice cream, or Springsteen’s favorite cheesecake.
The chocolate and roasted banana tart from Brisa Canaria at Hyatt Centric Gran Vía Madrid.
Hyatt Centric Gran Vía Madrid. Gran Vía, 31.
The restaurant of this city-center rooftop transforms this summer into Brisa Canaria, a contemporary guachinche inspired by the Canary Islands. The organic essence of the archipelago, with its volcanic strength, natural textures, and light helps build a gastronomic proposal that leans on typical flavors through a contemporary and sophisticated perspective.
Available on Sundays from 12:30 to 15:00, with unlimited cava at the bar, the menu includes papas arrugás with mojo picón, Vieja baked with Canary potatoes and fresh sprouts, the Canary cheeses board, or the crispy toast of roasted leg, eggplant, island cheese and honey—a combination reminiscent of the best Canary cooking. The finale could hardly be more Canarian, and sweet, with a chocolate and roasted Canary banana tart. And if you want to round out the experience, you can pair it with the Lanzarote Spritz and Tenerife Spritz cocktails to prolong an unforgettable journey. It costs 48 euros per person.
