Zara’s Most Comfortable Ballet Flats This Fall

The other day I told my mother that I was looking for a comfortable mid-season shoe. She immediately told me she had the perfect option: some ballet flats. However, although I usually wear ballet flats, they aren’t my star shoe.

Ballet flats aren’t a footwear I like too much because they tend to gape at the instep and sometimes don’t have a quite comfortable insole. Or at least that’s what I thought until I discovered the ballet flats my mother was referring to.

The most comfortable ballet flats of the season are at Zara

This is a Zara model that made me reconcile with this type of footwear. Suede ballet flats with a round toe and buckle closure at the instep, which also cost only €29.95. Its simple, timeless design blends perfectly with any autumn look, but the best part is how incredibly comfortable they are from the very first moment.

The material of suede is soft and flexible, which prevents chafing, and the buckle closure provides extra support so they don’t gape while walking, something that used to happen to me with other models. In addition, the round toe reveals just the part of the instep that flatters the foot without being too revealing, making them an elegant option even for dressier looks.

When it comes to styling, they are the kind of ballet flats that adapt to everything: with straight-leg jeans and a blazer, they lend a polished, Parisian air; with a midi skirt or a knit dress, they are the perfect ally for those days when you want to be comfortable without sacrificing style.

And even though at first glance they seem like basic ballet flats, there’s something about their form and the texture of suede that makes them special. They are lightweight, soft, and they fit to the foot without losing their shape, which makes them a perfect closet staple shoe for this season.

How to clean suede footwear

Many times people have doubts about whether to invest in this type of footwear due to its maintenance. The reality is they can stay in good condition for quite a long time with proper care. The ideal is to gently brush them with a suede-specific brush after each use, to remove dust and maintain the velvety finish.

If a stain appears, you can use a suede eraser or a slightly damp cloth, always without rubbing too hard. And, very importantly, never store them when damp or expose them directly to the sun: just let them air dry, away from heat sources.
