The immediate family of Pedro Sánchez has not stopped monopolizing headlines, to his dismay, for months now. To Begoña Gómez, the wife of the Prime Minister, Judge Juan Carlos Peinado accuses five alleged crimes ranging from corruption in business to embezzlement. And David Sánchez, his brother, is accused of the alleged crimes of prevarication and influence peddling in relation to his irregular hiring at the Provincial Council of Badajoz.
In a discreet secondary, or even tertiary, role, and with no known legal issues, however, the brother-in-law of the head of the Government: Miguel Ángel Gómez. Having successfully dedicated himself for years to the duties of post-production supervisor at prestigious production companies, he is married to the Dutchwoman Fayette Proper. Their wedding took place in 2018 and generated a lot of talk, precisely because of the presence of his sister, Begoña Gómez, and Pedro Sánchez himself.
The last time Miguel Ángel and Fayette appeared in the media, albeit off to the side, was when they spent vacations this summer with the current residents of La Moncloa. They were located at the end of August at the Mareta mansion, located on the island of Lanzarote. They were also accompanied by Begoña Gómez and Pedro Sánchez’s daughters, Ainhoa and Carlota, and the politician’s parents, Pedro and Magdalena.
This Is Pedro Sánchez’s Brother-in-Law
After studying Law and Business Management at CEU University and completing a master’s in Management of Companies in audiovisual media, Miguel Ángel Gómez has been working since 2005 as a director and post-production supervisor at companies such as Globomedia or Morena Films. In 2018 he began working for Vancouver Media, where he continues to perform his duties today.
During this time he has participated in very well-known productions on both television and cinema. Among the prestige series in which he appears in the credits are several seasons of La casa de papel, El embarcadero, Élite, or Las chicas del cable. As for the films, in his résumé we find La novia, Los últimos de Filipinas, or Fuga de cerebros 2.
Among the tasks of Begoña Gómez’s brother in these audiovisual productions are to be the person ultimately responsible for editing, sound, music, and budget control. Miguel Ángel Gómez also handles the design of shooting areas and manages the filming schedule. As he states on his LinkedIn profile, he stands out for his «ability to manage different projects in a very dynamic environment, adapting to unexpected changes in the schedule and meeting the established deadlines».
A Dutch Wife and a Controversial Wedding
Miguel Ángel Gómez has been married since 2018 to the Dutch interior designer Fayette Proper. Their intimate, outdoor wedding, attended by only 85 guests, took place in the small town of Aldeanueva de Cameros in La Rioja, where Begoña Gómez’s brother has a house. But the controversy that day was due to the presence of the socialist politician and his wife.

As was published at the time, Pedro Sánchez, who a few weeks earlier had just been named President of the Government, and Begoña Gómez, used a Super Puma helicopter to attend the wedding, landing at a nearby airbase and completing the rest of the journey in an official car. The fact that they had to mobilize a team of fifty agents drew a lot of criticism at the time.
Fayette Proper is the founder and director of the interior design studio Nimú, which she conceived together with Margarita Antes, her friend and fellow Interior Design student. “We are a Dutch woman and a Spanish woman who in 2005 created Nimú Team, a small studio dedicated to and open to design. Nimú is a studio that enjoys seeking solutions to create spaces. Each project is developed as a team and by working in a personal and close way with our clients,” they say on their website.
