Testing the Most Rejuvenating Red Blush: Velvet Finish for Light Skin Tones

Beyond the makeup basics that never fail in my kit, such as a treatment concealer that corrects dark circles but also treats them along with wrinkles, or nude eyeshadows to even out the eyelid, I have never been good at letting my creativity run free to create bolder beauty looks.

Out of fear that it might not look right on my face, but mainly due to lack of knowledge, many different makeup products such as a white eye pencil, a colored mascara, or a plum-toned lipstick, are always ruled out of my daily makeup look. But this red blush I just tried has come into my life (and perhaps into yours) to stay.

I have a very pale skin, especially in winter, and a blush in such a bright tone has never suited me. But there are two key points that have made me change my mind about this blush we need to talk about: it is liquid but with a mousse texture, so it is very easy to blend even if you go overboard, and its velvety matte finish imitates the natural blush.

This red blush is worth trying

This is a makeup novelty recently launched by Dior: the Forever Blush Soft Filter, “the first liquid blush [in its collection] with a whipped and airy texture that dresses the complexion in a cloud of color and an immediate filter effect,” explain the French brand.

Its texture “cream to powder” makes its application ultra-sensory and results in a matte-luminous finish that visibly smooths the skin thanks to a formula enriched with hyaluronic acid that also keeps the skin hydrated for 24 hours, providing a feeling of comfort and an immediate healthy-looking effect.

My experience with the new Forever Blush Soft Filter by Dior

Peter Philips, Dior’s Director of Creation and Image of Makeup, has created this blush in 10 shades with the aim of creating a filter effect on the face. Specifically, the shade I tried is 06 Hibiscus. As I mentioned earlier, a vivid red with a cool undertone with which, to my surprise, I receive many compliments every time I use it. What has my experience been?

The first thing I liked about this blush is its liquid format; not only is it trendy, it is much more versatile than a powder blush because it can also be applied on the lips and on the eyelids to create a very flattering monochromatic makeup look.

Forever Blush Soft Filter de Dior

  • – blends very well and doesn’t look excessive if you apply the right amount.

  • – Delivers the filter effect finish; it looks like your natural blush.

  • – Can be applied on cheeks, lips, and eyelids.

  • – The packaging lasts a long time since you need very little product.

  • – Long-wearing.

  • – Its formula with hyaluronic acid keeps the skin hydrated and does not dry it out.

  • – Available in 10 shades.

  • – It has a high starting price (43 euros), but considering the quality, durability, and finish, the investment is worth it if you can afford it.

But when I discovered its texture and finish, I was even more convinced. With just a dab on the applicator, it is more than enough to color and highlight the cheeks. It can be blended perfectly with your fingers if you don’t have a brush at hand. The result on this area is very natural because it looks like your natural blush, as if you weren’t wearing anything.

This second-skin effect is achieved thanks to what the brand describes about the product: the whipped and airy texture that rests on the face like a veil of color after blending. That said, do not apply more than two swipes per cheek with this red shade because its high pigmentation can create an undesired excess of blush.

A trick to disguise the excess color is to keep blending with a bit of bronzing powder over the blush to tone it down. But undoubtedly, my favorite part is applying it also on the lips in light dabs. The result is a very flattering makeup look inspired by French makeup looks: red blush and bitten-looking lips to match. Time to try it!
