It has been weeks of tension and utmost discretion for Telma Ortiz since news of her separation from Irish lawyer and writer Robert Gavin Bonnar after six years together and a daughter in common became public. While rumors about her financial problems and the causes of the breakup circulated, the queen Letizia’s sister had stayed out of the spotlight. Until now.

Immersed in her new role as senior adviser to the Resource Mobilization and Global Partnerships Management at the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, it was obvious that her comeback would be in the professional realm. And so it has been. The daughter of Paloma Rocasolano and Jesús Ortiz traveled to the IFEMA Municipal Palace in Madrid to attend an event organized by the company she works for.

It was the eleventh edition of the Water Dialogues, and specifically the king Felipe’s sister-in-law attended an event titled Water Security for Sustainable Territorial Development. There, Telma Ortiz was very attentive during the lectures and was seen chatting amicably with Sara Aagesen, the minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge and third vice-president of the Government.

Elegance and First Statements

Telma Ortiz, whose last public appearance had also been in a professional setting, at a conference of the Centroamérica Cuenta literary festival. If then she impressed with a linen Mango suit, with blazer and waistcoat and straight trousers, on this occasion she once again drew inspiration from her sister Letizia’s style to achieve a sober but effective look.

Always elegant, this time she opted for a formula always winning for this type of professional events: a gray pantsuit with blazer, paired with a striped jumper that toned down the formality of the outfit. As accessories, a black leather crossbody bag and black suede high-heeled shoes.

Displaying a serene image centered on her professional side, beyond her romantic situation, Telma Ortiz appeared as cordial as she was concise when the press present there questioned her about her current life. “I’m fine, thank you”, were her only words as she left the event, clearly drawing the line between her personal life and her professional life.

A Traumatic Separation and the Support of Her Father

Telma Ortiz continues to adhere to the code of silence after the end of her third known romantic relationship, following those she had with Enrique Martín Llop, father of her first daughter, and with Jaime del Burgo. But even though discreet, her separation from Robert Gavin Bonnar, which occurred a year ago, has not been easy.

“The family drama has been deeper than what has been disclosed,” the Vanitatis magazine published about the intricacies of this breakup, which they described as “a very hard process.” Among the reasons that precipitated the end of their love story is the shock Telma and Gavin felt at leaving their home in Soto de la Moraleja because it exceeded their financial resources and the Irishman’s desire for notoriety.

Since then, the sister of Doña Letizia has moved house, changed jobs, and begun a new chapter of her life in which the great support of her father, Jesús Ortiz, stands out. While her mother has rebuilt her life in Murcia with her new partner, it is the former journalist who has remained closer to Telma to help her with everything she needs during these difficult moments.
