Paris Fashion Week continues to deliver great moments, and one of the most anticipated was Balenciaga’s runway to unveil its Spring/Summer 2027 collection. In the front row of the show held at the Tennis Club in the French capital, we could see Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz, Princess Olympia of Greece, and Anna Wintour. But someone shone brighter than them for a particular reason: Marta Ortega.

The non-executive chairwoman of Inditex chose Balenciaga’s show to be the first to debut three pieces from the new Zara x John Galliano capsule collection, which went on sale just yesterday. Marta Ortega was not only the best ambassador for her own products, but also wanted to show her support for Pierpaolo Piccioli, the house’s creative director, her close friend and the man responsible for designing her wedding dress.

For this glamorous occasion, the daughter of Amancio Ortega chose to debut the overshirt made from satin fabric of Re{form}, the line created by John Galliano along with Zara. It is a mid-season piece with a lapel collar and long sleeves finished with a turned-up cuff. It is priced at 299 euros.

Marta Ortega completed her look with two other pieces from the collection. First, a large Tri-Chic shoulder bag in leather, with a reversible body and contrast in brown suede. What is its price? 399 euros. And on her feet, a pair of pointed-toe shoes with a 5-centimeter kitten heel available on Zara’s website for 239 euros.

This is how Zara’s collaboration with John Galliano looks

Now more than ever, Zara is playing in the luxury arena. “By perceiving archival pieces as prototypes, the designer cuts, dismantles, and reassembles existing creations in a spontaneous way to shape new ones,” explains Inditex’s flagship in a statement about its anticipated partnership with designer John Galliano.

“It is an honor to bring John’s magic to such a broad audience for the first time,” Marta Ortega said about her flagship collaboration, which bears the signature of one of fashion’s great names. Meanwhile the designer, after leaving Maison Margiela in 2024, notes that this alliance with Zara offers him “a much greater reach than I’ve had before. It’s enormous.”

The collection, which debuted on October 1, inaugurates a two-year collaboration between the designer and the Spanish brand. The most notable aspect is that, rather than designing garments from scratch, John Galliano has acted as a “fashion hacker,” drawing inspiration from essential pieces in Zara’s historic archive to deconstruct them and transform them using haute couture techniques.

A Unique Creative Universe

Inditex has gone big to present this project during Paris Fashion Week, and until October 6—with an appointment—the brand will showcase the collection in a mansion at 70 Rue des Archives. The Re{form} garments are already available on the brand’s website, as well as in its flagship stores in London and Madrid.

With prices ranging from 30 to 599 euros, you can find coats that turn into dresses, shirts that change proportions, sweaters worn in unexpected ways, and accessories that play with traditional shapes. The aim is to transform the everyday into something extraordinary, without sacrificing drama, experimentation, and the historical references that have always characterized the designer’s creations.
