Paris Fashion Week is not only delivering some of the proposals that will shape the year ahead. The French capital has also become the stage for meetings that go beyond the traditional runways, where high jewelry asserts its prominence. This is the case of Messika, the brand founded by Valérie Messika, which has made diamonds and a contemporary vision of luxury its defining hallmarks.

The French house has presented at the Grand Palais its new haute joaillerie collection, Terres de Contrastes, an offering inspired by Botswana’s landscapes in which diamonds and colored stones explore the contrasts of nature. One of the major events of the Paris week in which we had the opportunity to meet Anna Castillo and speak with her exclusively for MUJERHOY.

The actress, who has made naturalness one of her defining traits, talks to us about her relationship with jewelry and Valérie Messika’s work, but also reveals which piece she never does without and with which she feels particularly flattered.

During our conversation, we asked what is special about the proposal of the French designer and why she considers that it is breaking with the traditional codes of jewelry and diamonds. “I think it has to do with the shift in perspective that she is giving,” she explains.

And indeed, in contrast to the idea that diamonds are reserved for grand occasions, Messika proposes a more spontaneous way of wearing them, in which the jewelry integrates into everyday wardrobe and ceases to depend on a special event.

A philosophy that Anna Castillo shares: “I think jewelry has always been something designed for special occasions and, in a way, Valérie Messika is making jewelry something close, urban, modern, that can be for every day”.

For the actress, that is precisely one of the keys to the designer’s work, which is bringing to jewelry “a rather disruptive and very approachable point of view.”

But beyond the grand haute joaillerie creations and the pieces that star on red carpets, we also wanted to know the more personal side of Anna Castillo. Which jewelry does she wear in her day-to-day life? Is there an accessory she never does without?

The actress doesn’t need to think twice to answer. “I always wear earrings, always. I love the light that earrings bring to the face,” she confesses.

And she is not wrong. Earrings have the capacity to illuminate the face, frame the features, and provide that special touch that can transform even the simplest outfits. From the most discreet designs to pieces with greater personality, they are one of those accessories able to make a difference without the need for grand artifices.

In Anna Castillo’s case, moreover, her choice does not respond solely to an aesthetic concern. “It’s what I feel suits me best and with which I identify most, with an earring,” she says.

A confession that fits with Messika’s vision of jewelry and reminds us that, beyond trends, the pieces that truly matter are those with which we identify and that end up becoming part of our personal style.
