There are trends that compel us to add a completely new garment to the wardrobe and others that simply make what we already have look different. We are talking about cuffed jeans. Jeans whose hem is turned outward. The difference is that this season the turn-up is no longer discreet and takes on XXL proportions.
The detail has caught our attention among the looks seen these days around the Paris Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2027, where denim is having a lot more prominence than one would expect. In street style images there are baggy jeans, wide silhouettes, and designs in different washes, but also numerous trousers whose hem is gathered by a wide and perfectly visible turn-up.
What exactly are cuffed jeans
The simplest translation would be jeans with the turned-up hem, although the models currently of interest have little to do with those narrow turn-ups we used years ago to show the ankle.
The 2026 version is more decisive. It usually starts from straight-cut, relaxed, or wide leg jeans and ends in a single wide turn-up, sometimes several centimeters, that leaves the reverse side of the denim visible. The contrast is particularly pronounced in indigo or dark-wash designs.
Vaqueros con bajo con vuelta.
This isn’t a trend that emerged from nowhere. In recent seasons it had appeared on runways as well as in street style. Givenchy, Isabel Marant or Khaite have recently experimented with different versions of folded denim, and specialist brands have begun incorporating it into their collections.
But it now seems to be finding a much easier formula to translate into everyday life. What is clear is that the autumn 2026 version is cleaner and more deliberate, with a single well-defined turn-up rather than hems rolled up in a seemingly casual way.
Paris confirms the trend of XXL-turn jeans
What’s interesting about Parisian street style is also how they are being styled. Instead of turning them into excessively casual jeans, many attendees have paired them with much more sophisticated pieces.
Blazers, shirts, leather jackets, cardigans or structured coats help balance the lower volume and give the look that effortless-yet-polished edge that denim often warrants.
