The Nail Treatment I Used That Helped Prevent Nail Breakage

Summer is probably one of the times of the year when I pay the least attention to my nails and, paradoxically, one of the times when they need it the most. Between swims in the sea and the pool, the manicures that follow each other during vacations, and that much more relaxed pace in which maintaining a nail care routine takes a back seat, it’s not unusual to reach September with nails that are weaker, drier, or prone to breaking.

It happens to me practically every year. I manage to keep them long for a few weeks and it’s enough that one starts to break to end up trimming them all. That’s why, this summer, I decided to be a bit more constant with their care and to anticipate the problem rather than trying to solve it once they’re already weakened.

One of my summer nail must-haves

One of them has been Essie Break Fix, a treatment designed to care for weakened nails and help prevent breakage. I’ve incorporated it into my routine over these past months, and one of the things I’ve liked most about it is that it doesn’t require too many steps or complications.

Over the weeks I have noticed that my nails stayed in better condition than in other summers. Obviously, no product can guarantee that a nail won’t break, but in my case I have felt that they were less fragile and I’ve managed to keep them long for longer without that sequence of small breaks that usually ends up forcing me to cut them.

Another treatment for nail care

Another treatment I have used is Manucurist’s Keratine Booster, designed especially for soft, damaged or weakened nails.

Its formula is highly concentrated in plant-based keratin, silicon, and biotin and, according to the brand, aims to strengthen the nail and help redensify its plate. It also has a very fluid texture that absorbs quickly, something I especially appreciate because it allows it to be incorporated into the routine without making it too complicated.

In my case, I have used it mainly in those moments when I noticed the nails a little more fragile or in need of extra care. I like it precisely because it works well as a complement to a simple routine and because it doesn’t require turning nail care into an endless ritual.

Why nails need more care after summer

Although many times we think first about recovering hair or skin after vacations, nails can also bear the excesses of these months. Continuous contact with water, chlorine, or certain manicures and their subsequent removals can make them feel weaker or more brittle.

And there I’ve discovered that, at least in my case, consistency works better than resorting to a treatment only when the damage is already done. Caring for them throughout the summer as a maintenance gesture has meant arriving in September with nails far better than usual.

The care I will also maintain in September

After these months, my intention is to continue using this type of treatments. Especially now that I’m changing manicures more often and I will alternate the early autumn tones with days when I feel like wearing the nails almost natural.

In the end, the products that end up earning a fixed place in my toiletry bag are precisely these: those that don’t require too much effort, fit easily into my routine, and manage to, with consistency, make me notice that my nails look more cared for.
