Back to the roots. That is the motto, and also the objective, of the new edition of OMODA Madrid es Moda, which takes place from September 7 to 10 and invites us to explore, hand in hand with Spain’s best independent fashion designers, the most emblematic corners of the capital. First stop? The imposing Sabatini Gardens, the chosen stage to celebrate the inaugural show that kicks off Fashion Week.

Inspired by the light and the hues of the city’s sunsets and with contemporary sophistication as the through line of the show, 25 designers presented their proposals through 45 looks. This natural runway that wove through trees, flowers in all their splendor, and eighteenth-century statues, and that counted with the impressive façade of the Royal Palace as a stone guest, gifted the more than 400 attendees, in addition to the best proposals of Spanish author fashion, one of the most magical twilights that can be seen in the capital.

“We aim to build a more emotional and intimate narrative, capable of generating stories with editorial depth and giving rise to human content. Stories that speak of challenges, talent, admiration as a creative driver, legacy, friendship, influence, collaboration, mentorship, generational shift and community,” state the organizers of this edition from OMODA Madrid es Moda.

These values, which directly connect with the DNA of this collective and coral project, were reflected in a superb show where creative heritage and the know-how of our artisans dialogue with the most current trends in an exquisite and shared language: that of Spanish fashion.

On the runway, a well-woven symphony of whites and blacks, but also tones inspired by the capital’s sunsets, featuring reds and oranges, conversed with ethereal fabrics and sculptural volumes in a narrative that invites us again and again to return to the roots. “Not to look back with nostalgia, but to remember what has brought us here and to reaffirm those who still are the true engine of the project: the designers,” remark from OMODA Madrid es Moda.

What you don’t see at a show: the backstage

The pre-show hustle is indescribable. In the backstage, which hosted the Hotel Príncipe Pío, the models prepare themselves hours in advance. Makeup, hairdressing, fittings… It’s non-stop!

Hours backstage are long; show days are intense. But there is always time for smiles… and to rest wherever and however one can.

The hair team used Cecotec tools to create all the hairstyles for the inaugural OMODA Madrid es Moda show.

And, of course, for the guests at the show, two magnificent gift bags awaited at their seats courtesy of OMODA, Jo Malone, Estée Lauder, Solán de Cabras and Keune.
