I’m Obsessed with Solid Perfumes, and This Is My Favorite

There are beauty products that captivate not only by how they smell, but by how they fit into your routine. At a moment when we are seeking practical formulas, easy to carry in a bag and designed for hassle-free reapplication, solid perfumes and small formats have become one of the most appealing beauty obsessions.

They do not necessarily replace traditional perfume, but they respond to a very concrete need: to smell good for longer without lugging a large bottle. Moreover, there is something addictive about them. Applying a perfume in a stick or balm format turns the act of perfuming into something more intimate. There is no fragrance cloud or excess, only a touch on the wrists, the neck, or the collarbone to recover that sensation of clean, sweet, or freshly perfumed skin.

Why solid perfumes are the new summer obsession

Solid perfumes have made a comeback because they are very easy to use. They usually come in stick, balm, or creamy tablet formats, and are applied directly to the skin. Simply glide them onto pulse points so the scent gradually blends with body heat.

Their great advantage is convenience. They take up no space, weigh nothing, and can be carried in a bag, in a travel kit, or even in a small purse. They are also perfect for reapplying in the office, after the gym, during a dinner, or any moment when you want to refresh your perfume without being intrusive.

Unlike many spray fragrances, which can be too intense in summer, scented balms leave a closer trail. They are noticeable on the skin, but do not saturate. And perhaps that is why they are so addictive: they make smelling good a simple, quick, and almost automatic gesture.

The perfume that takes me back to my teenage years

Although I am currently obsessed with solid perfumes, there is a scent that continues to occupy a special place in my bag: Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana. It is one of those perfumes many of us discover in adolescence and, years later, still has the ability to transport you to a specific time.

Light Blue has that fresh, clean, and radiant aroma that always works in summer. Dolce & Gabbana defines it as a fragrance of fruity and woody notes inspired by the lightness of a day by the sea in Capri, with that Mediterranean imagery that has accompanied the perfume since its inception.

The best thing about the format is that it is more convenient to carry in your bag or in the cosmetic case. It is not exactly a solid perfume, but it follows the same idea: always having a recognizable, fresh fragrance close by and easy to reapply when the scent starts to fade.

If we talk about stick perfumes, one of the most enticing formats is Cheirosa 62 Jelly Perfume Balm by Sol de Janeiro. It is a scented solid balm designed to apply directly to the skin, with that warm and gourmand aroma that has made the Cheirosa 62 line one of the brand’s most recognizable.

Its fragrance pyramid combines top notes of pistachio and almond, a heart of heliotrope and jasmine petals, and a base of vanilla, salted caramel, and sandalwood, according to Sol de Janeiro. The result is a sweet, sunny, enveloping perfume, perfect for those who prefer warm and delicious scents.

What’s interesting is that its jelly balm texture allows reapplying the fragrance very comfortably. It glides over the skin, doesn’t spill, and fits in any bag. It is exactly the kind of product you understand when you try it: practical, sensory, and very much designed to be carried with you at all times.

How to use a solid perfume so that it lasts longer

The best way to apply a solid perfume is to do it on areas where the skin is warmer, such as the wrists, neck, behind the ears, collarbones, or even the inner elbows. These are points that help the scent be perceived better throughout the day.

It is also advisable to apply it on moisturized skin, because fragrances tend to fix better when the skin is not dry. And, although we often do it unconsciously, it is preferable not to rub the wrists together after perfuming, as that gesture can alter the evolution of the scent.

Another option is to combine formats. For example, using a spray perfume in the morning and carrying a solid balm in the bag to touch up during the day. This keeps the scent feeling like perfume without needing to reapply too much.

The most convenient gesture to smell good in summer

The reason solid perfumes and small formats hook so many is simple: they make life easier. They are practical, discreet, and allow you to adapt the fragrance to the real pace of the day. It doesn’t matter if you’re traveling, working, on a balcony, or spending many hours away from home: you can always refresh the aroma in seconds.

And if that gesture is accompanied by a perfume that reminds you of your adolescence, like Light Blue, the effect is even more special. Because there are fragrances that not only smell good: they also hold memories.

That’s why I’m obsessed with this type of perfume. Because they blend convenience, nostalgia, and trend in a format that fits in any bag. And because, in summer, few things are as appealing as returning to smell clean, fresh, or sweet without any fuss.
