The Basics for Petite Women That Will Flatter You

My height is 1.56 m, so I’m very used to being the petite one wherever I go. All pants are long on me, there are no short dresses in my wardrobe that end up being midi, and there is no video ‘to look taller’ that has not been consumed on TikTok. And note, I have no problem with my height; in fact, I like it; but when it comes to dressing, everything becomes a challenge.

In fact, you would never say I’m short, and that’s because over the years I have learned to choose the cuts, colors, and patterns that accompany me. For example, high waist will always make your legs look kilometer-long, just like vertical stripes, V-necklines, and the total look optically lengthen.

Also, my advice is not to undervalue accessories. I’m not talking about wearing heels, but pointed-toe shoes, thong or Capri sandals, and updos or simple, quick half-updos that leave your neck exposed will add a few extra centimeters that will help you avoid looking short and stocky.

In my ranking: essentials for petite girls

White mini skirt with ruffle from Brownie, 49.95 euros.

White mini skirt with ruffle from Brownie, 49.95 euros. It’s a great ally if you’re short because it shows leg and that helps visually lengthen the figure. The mini cut and the light flutter provide movement without overloading the look, and the best part is that you can wear it with T-shirts and tops, or with blouses or shirts if you’re aiming for something more romantic or bohemian.

High‑waisted short denim skirt by Maje, 175 euros.

High-waisted short denim skirt by Maje, 175 euros. Denim skirts are a closet staple that never goes out of fashion. This mid‑rise model helps define the waist while lengthening the legs, a trick you can boost if you pull your hair back and reveal the neck.

Fluid short dress with fringe by Parfois, 69.99 euros.

Fluid short dress with fringe by Parfois, 69.99 euros. It is one of the most comfortable and beautiful dresses I’ve seen this season. The neckline, the cut, and the movement will be your best cards. Moreover, being in a natural tone, it will provide a lot of luminosity. Especially if you pair it with natural accessories, such as wedges, sandals or straw baskets.

Fitted polo dress by Lacoste, 155 euros.

Fitted polo dress by Lacoste, 155 euros. It’s straight, slightly fitted, and it contours your silhouette without overly hugging it. You can wear it with sneakers, but my advice is to pair it with thong sandals or Capri-style sandals for a ten-out-of-ten look.

Set of cropped top and high-waisted pants from Noon: pants 69 euros and vest 45 euros.

Set of cropped top and high-waisted pants from Noon: pants 69 euros and vest 45 euros. This set plays very well with proportions. The top short shows the waist and the high-waisted pants visually lengthen the legs. It’s a very simple but very effective combo to flatter the figure if you’re short. Also, you can wear the pieces together or separately.

Set of striped top and fluid pants from Sfera: pants 35.99 euros and top 17.99 euros.

Set of striped top and fluid pants from Sfera: pants 35.99 euros and top 17.99 euros. Vertical lines are a classic when it comes to slimming, and this set takes full advantage of that. The lightweight fabric and drape help ensure the look isn’t heavy. It’s perfect for those seeking a comfortable, elegant and fuss-free look.
