For a long time, blush was applied almost as a last quick gesture: a little product on the cheeks and that was it. However, in recent years it has come to occupy a leading role within makeup. Not only because it provides an instant glow, but also because when applied well it can visually lift the face, soften features, and achieve that healthy-looking effect that many seek.
The question is: Can you mix several blushes? Yes, and in fact it is one of the techniques most used by those who do makeup best. The key is not to pile on product for no reason, but to combine tones and textures with intention.
How many blushes can you mix?
The easiest and most flattering is to mix two blushes. One can bring freshness and the other add dimension. For example, a pink shade to illuminate the cheek and a peach shade to warm the face. Or a cream blush as a base and a powder one on top to set and prolong wear.
Three can also be used, but it is best done with much more subtlety: one as a base, another to add color, and a third very light on the upper part of the cheekbone, almost like a highlight touch.
The simplest way to do it is to apply first a cream or liquid blush, well diffused, to create that dewy skin effect. Then, add a powder blush in a similar or complementary tone, only at the center of the cheek or slightly toward the temple.
The most flattering combinations tend to stay within the same color family. Pink with powder pink, peach with coral, terracotta with warm nude, or mauve with cool pink.
If you’re looking for an instant good-face effect, peach and pink work very well together. The former brings warmth and the latter freshness. For more tanned skin, coral tones, soft terracotta, and golds are especially flattering.
