The film industry mourns the death of Gemma Cuervo. The actress has died at the age of 91 leaving an irreplaceable vacancy in what is one of the most distinguished careers in the world of acting. Remembered, above all, for her role as Vicenta in ‘La que se avecina’, Cuervo leaves us with an impeccable professional legacy that gains value after her passing.

A warmth and recognition that has been especially represented in her final farewell. At around 10:00 hours, the lying-in chapel opened at the La Paz Funeral Home, a place to which not only family and friends, but well-known faces from Spanish cinema have traveled.

The first to arrive were her children. Visibly affected and with a solemn expression, Fernando, Natalia and Cayetana Guillén Cuervo greeted the dozens of media outlets gathered at the doors of the funeral home. The media attention was evident, and Gemma’s children did not hesitate to share how they felt.

«My mother has left an infinite love that reaches the hearts of all generations. It could not have been better done», Cayetana said to the microphones. After donning large sunglasses, she acknowledged that the loss of her mother is «an almost impossible absence», although, «love consoles».

It seems that both Cayetana and her siblings have received affection not only from family and friends but also from a large entourage of followers who are honoring the deceased actress. Many have acknowledged Gemma Cuervo’s professional career through social networks and wished to remember her worth after her passing.

But, without a doubt, what is helping them cope with the hard loss is family unity. Cayetana has stressed the best legacy her mother leaves: staying united in the face of adversity. “The love that everyone around us carries for others and the purpose of giving our best version“, she declared.

Fernando, for his part, did not hesitate to thank the support received. «It is wonderful to see all the expressions of affection everywhere». At the doors of the funeral home, and accompanied by his son and his wife, he confirmed that «it has all happened very suddenly», however, he values having been able to enjoy her for a very long time and in very good health. «It has been almost 92 years of wonderful life. A benchmark of love and dignity», he said.

The La Paz funeral home has become a parade of well-known faces. As expected, personalities from the worlds of cinema, politics or music have not wanted to miss the opportunity to bid farewell to Gemma and to express their support and condolences to the actress’s family.

Paz Vega.

Paz Vega was one of the first to appear, followed by Andrea Levy or Roberto Álvarez. A strong affection joined by many farewells that have also appeared on social networks. This is the case of Luis Merlo, a fellow cast member. “What a privilege to have shared with you those shoots of Aquí no hay quien viva, your looks, your improvisations and your infinite generosity. You were an example of talent and life,” the actor wrote on his social profile. A goodbye as grand as it was deserved.
