Best Mid-Season Basics to Dress Well This Spring

They say that spring stirs the blood, but aside from the fatigue and the allergies, I have to confess that it is my favorite season of the year. The thick layers, the Michelin Man figures and that sensation of hypothermia every time we step out onto the street are behind us. The days are longer, the more pleasant temperatures, and (at last) the wardrobe change arrives.

My French friends always say that spring is the perfect moment to bloom, stylistically speaking. They only use good, timeless, quality basics, but that doesn’t mean your next purchases have to be boring.

In fact, the other day they helped me organize my wishlist and since I have these pieces in my arsenal, I can’t wait to wear them out on the street. They are special, have that elegant touch that always hits, and they also go very well together.

In my ranking: the best basics for my mid-season wardrobe

Striped shirt with neck detail from Sézane, 95 euros.

Striped shirt with neck detail from Sézane, 95 euros. It was love at first sight. It’s perfect for everyday wear, with a romantic style, and the neck detail with ruffles and lace gives it more personality without losing its classic essence.

Amlul printed midi skirt, 239 euros.

Amlul printed midi skirt, 239 euros. If you like prints, pay attention, because you don’t have to give them up, and this skirt proves it. This model has a straight cut that flatters the silhouette and is incredibly comfortable to wear all day with sweaters or shirts.

Ba&sh pink midi dress, 225 euros.

Ba&sh pink midi dress, 225 euros. This kind of dress is one of the French style’s favorites, and it’s easy to see why: they’re feminine and easy to wear. Moreover, this model has a simple cut that fits the body without clinging too much. I especially like it paired with browns and golden accents.

Maje striped T-shirt, 215 euros.

Camiseta de rayas de Maje, 215 euros. My advice is clear: don’t overcomplicate things, and go for pieces you know you will actually wear, like this one. It goes with everything you have in mind, from straight-cut pants to jeans or skirts.

Camel-toned jacket from Sèssun, 295 euros.

Camel-toned jacket from Sèssun, 295 euros. Don’t underestimate the power of this kind of jacket during the in-between season, especially since they pair wonderfully with any basic piece in your wardrobe, particularly if you choose it in a neutral tone, like this camel.

Bompar blue basic T-shirt, 150 euros.

Camiseta básica azul de Bompar, 150 euros. Finally, spring brings back tones like pastels. They are very wearable, versatile, and practical, so they also make a good option if you’re looking for the best of both worlds.
