At the end of the Oviedo Philharmonic concert, a romantic program with works by Dvořák and Brahms, the royal family stepped onto the stage of the Príncipe Felipe Auditorium to take a family photo with the musicians. The moment reveals the mood with which the King and his daughters arrived in Asturias: radiant. So much so that King Felipe made a joke (inaudible, unfortunately), which made the hundred performers who watched him in awe laugh. The Princesa de Asturias Awards could not have started better.
In reality, the arrival of the King, the princess Leonor and the infanta Sofía was somewhat hurried: they arrived at the stroke of the hour, so that they hardly stopped for greetings. There was a minimal pause before a small group of authorities, and inside. There was time to perfectly notice the plunging back neckline that the infanta Sofía wore, stunning in one of her wardrobe’s favorite pieces: a jumpsuit.
Inevitably, the people who gathered at the door of the auditorium began to shower Sofía, Leonor, and Letizia with compliments, once again stunningly beautiful. Leonor is always a favorite in Asturias, although she dresses in garments that could easily be worn by her grandmother, Queen Sofía. Surely she would not mind inheriting the Armani jacket that the heiress wore, too classic even for a future queen. Fortunately, the people cared exactly the same. In the eyes of Asturians, Leonor always looks perfect.
La Reina se llevó los mayores piropos a la salida del auditorio en el que se celebró el cocierto de los Premios Princesa de Asturias.
Coordinated in black and blue, the royal family answered the cries of “¡guapa!” with a modest bow with the hand. The Spanish hymn soon began to sound and the concert started, though in the entrance procession we could again see Queen Letizia, gorgeous, very close with her younger daughter. She continues to share smiles and confidences with Infanta Sofía, while Leonor and King Felipe tend to appear more solemn. The Princesa de Asturias concert was no exception.
The royal family greeted everyone upon leaving
Despite the rapid entrance into the auditorium, the hundred fans who wanted to greet and speak with the royal family hardly dispersed. They waited patiently for the concert to end and they got their reward, as King Felipe and Queen Letizia and their daughters took the time to shake hands and exchange a few words with everyone waiting on the other side of the barrier. Again, the compliments were repeated. “Doña Letizia, you are very kind,” a elderly gentleman told the Queen. “Sofía, how pretty!” they said to the infanta.
Junto a la reina Letizia, la infanta Sofía fue la más celebrada por su escotado mono negro.
The infanta, between shy and playful, was thanking as best as she could, without stopping to hold the neckline of the jumpsuit, afraid that it would reveal more than appropriate. “Thank you always for coming to greet us,” Letizia thanked an elderly lady, who told her: “You are stunning.” The Queen replied: “You too.” Leonor did not lack adjectives. “A pleasure to see you for the first time. You are a charm,” a woman about her mother’s age told her.
After the concert, a private dinner was held
Once everyone had been greeted, the royal family continued with their agenda, from then on private. As every year, after the concert there is a private dinner with the awardees which constitutes Princess Leonor’s first personal contact with the laureates. We know that the heir already knows the work of Eduardo Mendoza, as she revealed during the Premios Princesa de Girona that she was reading him. She will be able to discuss it with the author himself, in addition to talking with Serena Williams, Mario Draghi or Graciela Iturbide, a master of photography of the caliber of our Cristina García Rodero.
