Sometimes nothing is what it seems or what we think. Caroline, Princess of Monaco, continues to maintain a very good relationship with her former son-in-law, Dimitri Rassam, the son, in turn, of Carole Bouquet, who has been one of her best friends for a decade, since both moved in Karl Lagerfeld’s orbit, the late creative director of Chanel.
The breakup of Carlota Casiraghi and Dimitri Rassam was a surprise, but it occurred in apparently amicable terms. So much so that the film producer himself said in public that he would love to continue having a fluid relationship with Raphaël, the elder son of his ex-wife with the French-Moroccan comedian Gad Elmaleh.
Another clue that seemed to show that Dimitri Rassam maintained a good relationship with what had been his in-laws was that he was involved with Beatrice Borromeo, wife of Pierre Casiraghi, in the creation of a series about the Grimaldi family, and they were even photographed together in Barcelona a few months ago, apparently for a meeting they had held to discuss the project. It seems that due to her recent pregnancy and motherhood, the project is progressing somewhat slower than planned.
Both Carlota Casiraghi and Dimitri Rassam had remained fairly discreet in their respective interviews, not very frequent, by the way, but they had hinted or dropped that the process hadn’t been easy. At the moment, it is unknown at what point the romantic life of Jean-Pierre Rassam’s son stands, a renowned French producer closely linked to the Nouvelle Vague, but Carlota seems very happy with the writer Nicolas Mathieu, winner of the Goncourt Prize.
Caroline of Monaco, a very cultured princess
Another question that remained to be solved was how this breakup had affected Caroline of Monaco and her friendship with Carole Bouquet, but their friendship has remained unbreakable. The same can be said about the relationship she maintains with her ex-son-in-law, in light of what we just witnessed in Paris.
The meeting took place at a high-profile cultural event in Paris. The Friends of the Paris Museum of Modern Art held their annual party, this year marking its 50th anniversary. About 950 guests attended this dinner, including the Princess of Hanover—let us remember that she is not divorced from Ernst August of Hanover— and the producer of The Count of Monte Cristo, one of the best-selling films in France in recent years. An adaptation, by the way, of the homonymous novel by Alexandre Dumas, which Nicolas Sarkozy has chosen to read during his stay in prison.

In this case there was a very special honoree, the American artist George Condo, about whom the MAM is currently mounting a major retrospective. He was a figure with strong ties to the late Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring, a friend of Marie-Chantal Miller.
The meeting between Caroline of Monaco and Dimitri Rassam was very spontaneous. It was Dimitri himself who approached the table of the daughter of Rainier III of Monaco and Grace Kelly. The princess was very smiling throughout, and the body language showed that both were comfortable with the situation.
Caroline and Dimitri exchanged two kisses and afterwards enjoyed an evening where patrons, high-society personalities and cultural figures gathered to lend their presence to adding brightness and splendor to this gathering where they toasted to the good health of contemporary art.
