Oat-Based Cosmetics for Sensitive Skin

As someone with sensitive skin, I am quite aware that not every cosmetic can enter my toiletry bag. Your top priority should be to strengthen the barrier, hydrate it and avoid (as much as possible) the appearance of the most bothersome symptoms such as itching, redness or irritation. The reason? It is the most vulnerable, and any external factor (sun, temperature changes, hormonal fluctuations or even stress) can cause it to suffer. Therefore, you should rely on ingredients that are allies, such as the oat extract.

As explained by Isabel Márquez Dorsch, Director of R&D at Farma Dorch, «when the skin barrier is altered, hydration on its own is not always enough». That means you have to reduce everything that could increase reactivity and use formulas that provide comfort and help reinforce the protective function so that the skin regains its balance. In this regard, oats work very well since their moisturizing, soothing and antioxidant properties provide relief and a fairly noticeable reduction in discomfort.

From gentle cleansers to lightweight, fast-absorbing creams, body lotions or eye contour products, these days it is fairly easy to find cosmetics that include oats. That said, not all are the same, and if you ask me which ones are my essentials, these six basics would make my podium.

In my ranking: good oatmeal-based cosmetics

Ultra Nutritive Sensitive Lotion Milk by Farma Dorsch.

Ultra Nutritive Sensitive Lotion Milk by Farma Dorsch. Designed to treat dryness, flaking, irritability and redness, its formula provides intense hydration and nourishment, promoting cellular regeneration and accelerating renewal processes. It contains oats, almond oil, and sunflower oil, aloe vera, allantoin, natural vitamin E and a plant-derived epithelial growth factor for a smooth, comfortable result with no itching.

Aqua Bomb Cica Cream.

Aqua Bomb Cica Cream. Recommended for sensitive skin and with a lightweight, non-sticky texture, its formula enriched with oat extract, botanicals and citrus elements strengthens the face, making it firm and free of irritations or redness.

A-Derma Exomega Emollient Antipruritic Cream.

A-Derma Exomega Emollient Antipruritic Cream. We like it because it soothes irritation and itching, as it acts on the different layers of the skin and improves its hydration. Its natural actives help calm discomfort linked to dryness and rebuild the barrier thanks to its formula with Rhealba oat plantlets, Filaxerine and Vitamin B3.

Sensilis Upgrade AR.

Sensilis Upgrade AR. Firms and soothes redness thanks to its combination of anti-aging actives with a tightening effect that provides firmness to wrinkles and an antioxidant effect that protects against free radicals. Additionally, its content of oats and shea butter helps cleanse and hydrate the skin.

Supremya La Nuit Yeux Antiedad Ojos de Sisley.

Supremya La Nuit Yeux Antiedad Ojos de Sisley. This night-time eye contour reduces puffiness, diminishes dark circles and smooths wrinkles. Its formula contains its exclusive LC12 Plant Complex that repairs cells, oat seed extract for a tightening and calming effect, Padina pavonica extract that redensifies the tissue, soy peptide extract that combats eyelid sagging, and adenosine, a powerful anti-wrinkle active. You will feel your gaze younger, more elastic, and firmer upon waking.

Purito Oat In Gentle Exfoliating Face Cleanser.

Purito Oat In Gentle Exfoliating Face Cleanser removes impurities and promotes a more even texture. Its formula with soothing oat water, ground sweet almond seeds and kaolin clay exfoliates and strengthens comfort for a fresh, comfortable and effective result.
