No One Would Say My Tan Has Faded Thanks to This Simple Makeup Trick

Maintaining the fresh-faced look when the tan fades doesn’t always depend on adding more color to the face. In fact, often what is lost after summer isn’t the hue but the skin’s natural luminosity. That combination of light, evenness and dimension is what tends to make skin look like it has just come back from vacation, even weeks later.

That’s why, when October arrives, I don’t tend to reach for overly dark products or formulas that try to artificially recreate the color of summer. I prefer those that add light to the areas where the sun naturally hits: the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, the temples or the brow arch. The result is usually much more flattering and believable.

I’ve also found that not all highlighters work the same. The tones that are too cold or silvery can make the skin look dull, while golden, peachy or slightly warm finishes help maintain that healthy look we associate with the summer months. The difference, once applied, is quite evident.

As the weeks pass, the color inevitably fades. However, the skin can still retain part of that luminosity we associate with rest, being outdoors and vacation days. Therefore, when I pack away summer products, warm highlighters and luminous powders continue to have a fixed place in my makeup bag for a good part of autumn.

Sun Bunny Bronzer by Too Faced.

Sun Bunny Bronzer by Too Faced is one of those products capable of visually prolonging the vacation effect for a few more weeks. Its warm-toned blend provides color, dimension and luminosity without looking artificial. It also leaves the skin with a very flattering finish that recalls a natural tan after a few days in the sun. Ideal for those who are not ready to bid farewell to their summer tan just yet.

Unreal Highlighter Stick by Charlotte Tilbury.

Unreal Highlighter Stick by Charlotte Tilbury provides a fresh, natural glow that helps the skin look more rested and dewy at once. Its creamy texture blends easily with the face and leaves a soft shine, not exaggerated. The result is that healthy-skin effect we typically associate with the summer months. Perfect for strategically illuminating the cheekbones, the nose and the brow arch.

Terracotta Summer Glow by Guerlain.

Terracotta Summer Glow by Guerlain combines warm and luminous tones to recreate the look of skin caressed by the sun. Its finish is very natural and helps revitalize the face when the tan begins to fade. It also adds a touch of color that returns freshness and dimension without weighing down makeup. One of those products that makes skin look more alive with very little effort.

Everlift Highlighter by Dolce & Gabbana.

Everlift Highlighter by Dolce & Gabbana enhances the skin’s natural light with an elegant and sophisticated finish. Its formula keeps the skin luminous for hours without emphasizing texture or feeling excessive. Applied to the high points of the face, it helps create a fresher, more rested look. A good option for those seeking luminosity without sacrificing a refined result.

Light Reflecting Luminizer by NARS.

Light Reflecting Luminizer by NARS is designed for those who enjoy radiant skin all day long. Its lightweight texture blends easily and provides a highly flattering glow that seems to emanate from within the skin. It also helps enhance light on the cheeks, nose or temples without leaving evident particles. The result is a natural glow that recalls the sun on the face in summer.
