Madrid’s Coolest Store This Weekend

Just by looking at the store from the outside you can tell how divine it is on the inside, with its warm materials, its natural light and its artisanal details. It is the stage on which the accessories take center stage, sophisticated, those that elevate any look to the skies, leaping beyond trends and with atelier spirit. Making, that is, a space to be in fashion. Let’s imagine a striking velvet bomber, a two-tone balaclava, a jewel belt, a bag woven in metallic fabric, a zigzag scarf or a ring with a trio of semi-precious stones.

Latido, with Mencía Moreno de los Ríos at the helm (and the heart), has just inaugurated its flagship store in Madrid at the best moment. First, because Christmas is approaching and we are already in search of that something special with which to dress up and beautify ourselves, and to gift or to treat ourselves. And second, because in the depths of the coldest winter it comes to bring us a little bit of summer and the Mediterranean, which inspire its latest collection, and are much appreciated.

That means there is light and color in hats, bags, scarves, jewelry, other accessories and clothing, all of which are present. It quickly transports us to the Aegean Sea or the Amalfi Coast, to name two corners beloved by sun and muses, always stimulating. Latido is located at Paseo de la Habana 56 and, as its owner notes, it is “much more than a space.” “It is our home, the reflection of a dream shared by an entire team that believes in the beauty of doing things with emotion,” she adds.

Twenty years designing accessories

A place where this creative director has wanted the brand’s story to be reflected. Her love for accessories, which “are not a simple accessory,” as she says. In her case, she has spent twenty years bringing them to life, after growing between Madrid and New York and working for major luxury houses, which encouraged her creativity and set her on the path to building something of her own. Or, winking at the brand’s name, she succumbed to “a desire that beat strongly.”

Velvet jacket of exclusive design.

Two decades, therefore, bringing designs to life that, in her words, “celebrate the feminine identity.” At first, with Alibey Accesorios, which Mencía Moreno de los Ríos launched in 2004, after traveling and connecting with workshops that turned into reality what she had predesigned in her mind. First, costume jewelry, necklaces, earrings, rings and the like. Later, scarves with prints of their own, which have already become a hallmark, and all the rest. In the end, an exquisite and contemporary bazaar.

What you can find at Latido

This space is full of exclusive things, as they emphasize. And for all kinds of women, for every day and for all day, from morning to night. There are bags that flirt with colors, textures, the English fabrics, studs or topstitching. A line of in-house design and, as a novelty, a collection of wallets and purses to match some of the bags. Jewelry remains the heart of the party, never more aptly said.

Headbands are also among the jewels of this flagship store.

Scarves catch the eye, with their prints and colors. The same for balaclavas, berets, caps and hats, each one more stylish and desirable. Hair accessories are a temptation. Belts of all kinds: from the classic for daily wear, but with a twist — that extra touch — to which you might call jewelry because it features a brass clasp with gold plating and a semi-precious stone, passing through the wide sashes, which are the latest arrivals. Not to forget sets of pouches and makeup bags with various velvet prints and equally unique designs.

A space also for fashion

Although accessories take precedence, fashion also enjoys a juicy presence, with few yet striking garments. Ponchos, always versatile, which can be reversible in plaids, houndstooth or rectangular shapes. In addition to blouses, jeans or in Vichy checks with embroidery that lift them from notable to outstanding, and jackets and vests in embroidered velvet as well, which come in handy for these holidays (and for every occasion).

Bags like these will brighten your days marked by special occasions.

The truth is that in this Madrid flagship store you breathe Mediterranean air, multiculturalism and elegance. Finally, let us recall that these designs are openly cosmopolitan. They have crossed borders and are already available in more than 600 points of sale, among Spain, Italy and Portugal, in addition to that other channel that never had them, online.
