Once again, the well-known Mia restaurant, situated in the picturesque Portixol neighborhood, has been chosen as the location for what is already one of the royal family’s most anticipated outings in Mallorca. The poses in Marivent and other scenes in which the members of the Spanish royal family posed during their Balearic summer are behind us. Today, appearances are few, and this private dinner has now become a tradition for Felipe and Letizia.

As is customary, after the closing of the 44th edition of the Copa del Rey Mapfre at the Palma Real Club Náutico presided over by the monarch, the kings together with their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, Queen Sofía and Jean Henri Fruchaud, widower of Princess Tatiana Radziwill, enjoyed this leisure plan on the island.

The royal family’s Mallorca vacation week seems to have become another fixed date on the institutional agenda, and each summer the same outings are carried out. The king’s sailing commitments, a leisure outing with some cultural aim, and the private dinner at Mia are the measured and prepared appearances for these days of the summer season.

A couple of days ago, Queen Letizia and her daughters made a private visit to the Esment Foundation, dedicated to working for autonomy and employment inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities, and last night there was a dinner at the establishment led by Mallorcan chef Guillermo Cabot, which has been the royal family’s favorite restaurant in Mallorca since it opened in 2023.

However, this year, King Felipe VI has had to face several commitments that prevented him from enjoying the island as in previous years during that week. National news and security at the southern border have completely marked the monarch’s stay, who has been monitoring minute by minute from the Marivent Palace the migratory crisis unleashed in Ceuta.

In addition, on Thursday he received in person at Marivent the president of the Autonomous City of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas. Afterwards, he set course for Cali (Colombia) to attend the inauguration of the newly elected president, Abelardo de la Espriella. A trip that did not allow him to miss the prize-giving at the Náutico, where he celebrated his boat Hispania’s runner-up finish.

The royal family has known Cabot’s cuisine well since his time leading Ola del Mar, a venue they frequented for years and that solidified its bond with Portixol and is one of its reference points on the island for a reason. The venue offers a culinary experience based on fresh produce and a highly recognizable Mediterranean interpretation that Princess Leonor and Sofía have also fallen in love with.

The Infanta surprised on this outing by choosing a dress from the Spanish brand Desigual that her mother wore years ago at Marivent and that we also saw Princess Leonor wearing at the palace reception last year. A further proof that mother and daughters share a wardrobe.

This year, the outing has been marked by the company of Jean Henri Fruchaud, who maintains a close relationship with the Royal Family, even after the death of Tatiana Radziwill, the queen emerita’s close friend, in December 2025.
