Over these past few years we have seen thousands of ways to apply blush. It is a makeup product that follows its own trends and has undergone a renaissance with all kinds of textures, shades, and finishes. Until recently, the correct way to apply it was on the cheekbone. Although now it seems that this effect has become outdated. You should raise it much higher, almost touching the under-eye area and visually linking it with the upper part of the cheekbone.
The culprit? The makeup artist Patrick Ta, who has been blending it under the eyes for a more continuous finish for some time. TikTok has helped spread this trend. Called undereye blush, many experts relate it to Igari makeup, created by the makeup artist Shinobu Igari in the late 1990s and aimed at replicating youthful blush. But why does it work so well? According to makeup artist Andrew Denton, “placing the color under the eye and sweeping it toward the temples emphasizes the higher points of the center of the face and visually creates greater lift.”
To replicate it (and not end up with two pink spots under the eyes) the trick is to use little product and build gradually. “I would avoid concentrating the blush in the center of the cheek and apply it on the cheekbone area, near the under-eye and blending upward.” As is customary for this kind of finish, the best formulas are liquid or cream ones that facilitate that blush-integrated effect.
