Of all the elegant icons I know, my favorite will always be Grace Kelly. I know I’m not saying anything novel, but just as Diana, Princess of Wales, taught us to break the protocols and find ways to express ourselves comfortably through fashion, the Princess of Monaco continues to inspire many of the most sophisticated looks we could wear today. In fact, her way of combining classic garments and timeless silhouettes and accessories shows that it’s not necessary to follow all the trends of the moment. Especially in autumn.
From immaculate coats to knitted sweaters, straight-cut trousers or neutral tones, her wardrobe is very aspirational. And the great advantage is that many of those combinations fit (and better than you might think) with several of the garments currently in 2026. In fact, I have in mind one in particular that went around the world.
For those who don’t remember, before becoming a princess she was one of Hollywood’s most famous actresses, the muse of Alfred Hitchcock. In 1954, her fame (and added elegance) inspired millions of women around the world, and since there weren’t as many movie red carpets as there are now, poses on the sets of filming gained much more prominence. And in one of them we could discover one of our favorites.
