Easy Makeup Trick to Brighten Brown Eyes Seen at Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week is not only an absolute source of inspiration for discovering the looks we’ll wear next season, but also the perfect stage to spot some of the most cutting-edge beauty trends of the moment.

And on the runways, besides finding spectacular pieces and styling ideas for both spring–summer and autumn–winter, we have discovered easy-to-apply tricks that beauty experts use on models to bring out their best features.

And it was during the second day that we discovered that makeup trick we keep seeing again and again, and which confirms that it is one of the best options if you have brown eyes. We are talking about a makeup look that accompanied Fendi’s styling proposal and that favors a technique we see both on special occasions and in everyday life: applying a reddish shadow to both the upper and lower eyelids.

This shade is one of the easiest to apply to the eyes, as it blends easily and becomes a perfect ally for achieving a visually lighter-looking eye. That is why it works wonderfully if you have brown eyes, although it is also perfect for those with green or blue eyes.

In fact, although it is a trick we have confirmed at Milan Fashion Week, we had already seen it before on other style icons, such as Queen Letizia. Felipe VI’s wife often uses this type of makeup, giving life to her gaze and making it appear larger and more luminous without always needing very light shadows.

It works perfectly day or night and is usually one of those tricks recommended by experts. This was confirmed by Rosa Gardiner, Senior Director of Global Education at Make Up by Mario. “The simplest rule is to work with contrast,” she confessed. And yes, she confirms that if you have brown eyes, your tones will be between bronze and soft burgundy.

And it is that brown eyes are among the most versatile due to their capacity to adapt to both warm and cool tones. “This season, champagne, bronze, soft burgundy, and pastel colors are once again particularly current. For an effortless look, bronze tones create that perfect natural definition. Moreover, brown eyes tolerate depth well without hardening the gaze, making them ideal for experimenting with bolder palettes,” Gardiner says.

And bronze, this reddish or more orange version of gold, is, for the expert, the universal shade that flatters the most. “Naturally enhances, adds light to the gaze and complements virtually any eye color without being intimidating or too trendy,” explains Gardiner.

And all of this is because it adds light without being excessive, naturally brightens the eyelid and helps give dimension to the gaze without relying on flashy colors and works with practically any eye color. “Unlike other more specific tones, bronze shades help frame the iris without visually competing with it,” she notes.

Additionally, it works for both day and night, can be used subtly during the day or intensified to create more sophisticated makeup looks, and it does not depend on trends; it is one of those tones that continues to work season after season.
