Best Destinations in the World to Travel and Do Nothing

On the Portuguese Alentejo coast, Comporta, the most exclusive destination, has consolidated a model of a destination where luxury does not come from ostentation, but from space and the absence of noise. The rice paddies, the pine forests, and the long, open beaches create an environment where there is not too much to do… and that is exactly what is sought.

The Sublime Comporta functions as an ideal base. Its independent villas, many with private pools, are scattered among the vegetation, which allows a constant sense of isolation. Here the day tends to unfold effortlessly: a long breakfast, a stroll along beaches such as Praia da Comporta or Carvalhal, a leisurely lunch and a return to the villa to not do too much more.

For those who want to move around a little, there are bicycle routes between rice paddies, small local restaurants where the fish comes straight from the Atlantic, and farmers’ markets that continue to operate as they always have. But the value lies in the fact that all of that is optional.
