A Friend With Curly Hair Shares Her Hair Care Routine

My hair is straight. Easy, yes, but also quite predictable. I wash it, dry it, and, in general, I don’t have to think too much about it. My best friend’s hair, on the other hand, has nothing to do with it: defined curls, with volume and that somewhat effortless touch that always looks good.

For a long time I thought it was pure luck. That she simply had that kind of hair and that was it. But over time I started paying closer attention. How she washes it, how she dries it, the products she uses and, above all, everything she avoids doing. Behind it there is routine, technique and a lot more care than I had imagined. And also that, when you find what works for you, the change is noticeable.

It’s not just a matter of using products for curls, but of knowing which ones truly make a difference. Because yes, there are many, but not all of them work the same. After years of watching her test, change and repeat only what really works, there are certain basics that are always in her bathroom. The ones that don’t fail. The ones she uses again and again. The ones that, in her view, are the key for her curls to look really pretty.

The Bellissima Steam Ritual Diffuser.

The Bellissima Steam Ritual Diffuser

If there’s a before and after in her routine, this is it. The Bellissima Steam Ritual hair diffuser with steam function isn’t the typical accessory just for show. According to her, the steam helps hydrate while it dries, a key factor in avoiding frizz. She uses it with patience, bringing the diffuser close to the curls without touching them too much. The result: more definition, less frizz, and that beautiful volume that doesn’t look out of control.

Spray for curl definition by Phyto

Phyto Curl Spray

I used to think hair fixed itself in the morning. Wrong. She doesn’t wash her hair every day, but she refreshes it. Here comes Phyto Curl Spray, which she uses to refresh the hair the next day. A little product, shaping with her hands and the curls shine again. It’s one of her favorite products between washes.

Gorro de satén de Parsa

Parsa Satin Cap

Here is where I understood that curly hair is a 24/7 commitment. My friend sleeps with a satin cap. At first I thought it was exaggerated, but now it makes all the sense: it prevents rubbing, frizz and the curls from unraveling overnight. Result: she wakes up with much more controlled hair (and needs fewer touch-ups).

Denman D3 Curl Brush

This brush has almost cult status. The Denman Curly Hair Brush D3 (7 Row) doesn’t get used the way I would use any ordinary brush. In fact, she only uses it with wet hair and with product. She glides it strand by strand to define the curls, separate them and give them shape.
