It was expected that her surprise appearance would take place last night on The Telediario of Our Lives, the special edition of the news that celebrated Televisión Española’s 70th anniversary; however, Queen Letizia has reserved this public appearance for the 40th anniversary of Fad Juventud.
As Honorary President, Doña Letizia has wished to support, celebrate, and give voice to the foundation’s work with a speech that the Royal Household has shared via social media. Once again, like a newsroom journalist and as if on a television set, she recalled her former profession delivering a plea in favor of protecting the youngest members of society, with which she again showcased her great communication skills.
“No to drugs, no to substances that affect our brain, to social relationships, to our family, to our future.” This is how the post in which the queen consort wished to participate begins. A firm line in which she did not hesitate to take a stand against one of the great scourges of today’s youth.
Doña Letizia also added a “no to harassment, to gender-based violence, to cyber-violence, to digital addictions” and she again made clear how important it is to take care of mental health, essential in the process of improving these problems that are so common in early adolescence.

Queen Letizia backs the use of impactful campaigns
The monarch has thus conveyed her affection for these forty years in an emotional video in which she also highlighted the awareness-raising work carried out during this time through impactful campaigns. “Fad Juventud has spent forty years engaging people in life and has done so in a direct and explicit way, sometimes with aggressive messages,” she noted.
These are campaigns that have shaped generations, that have reached millions of households and that are already part of our collective imagination, such as The Worm, Get Hooked on Life, or the most recent Disconnect Cyberviolence.
Queen Letizia delivered remarks in a studio.
During the video, the queen acknowledged the importance of information and dialogue as essential tools for making responsible decisions and to understand that prevention is living. In addition, she highlighted the opportunities lost due to the consumption of toxic substances and stressed how important it is to build safe environments for young people, environments in which parents are involved.
“Thanks to Fad Juventud for these forty years; to all those who have contributed selflessly to all its campaigns and congratulations for working to build a healthy society, and achieving it is everyone’s responsibility,” concluded Doña Letizia.
From the foundation, they wished to thank the Queen for her words of recognition and for having chosen to accompany them on this very special anniversary. A surprise appearance that precedes her next official royal engagement: the Princess of Asturias Awards 2026.
