The term WAG (an English acronym for wives and girlfriends) was popularized by the British tabloid press in the early 2000s to refer to footballers’ partners. And with the 2026 World Cup already underway, one of the people who has generated the most interest is Inés García, Lamine Yamal’s girlfriend.

Model and influencer, the young content creator has seen her followers on social networks skyrocket after the confirmation of her relationship with the Barça star and the Spanish national team. After a few weeks of rumors and denials, they made their romance official by posing together at the end-of-season dinner for the Catalan club.

A few photos of them in Sitges at the end of April were the first clues of a relationship that now seems consolidated. They were later seen taking a helicopter ride around Barcelona and on a romantic getaway in Greece. Inés García seems to have even become his spokesperson, clearing up doubts about his physical condition after his recent injury. “He arrives perfectly for the World Cup, don’t worry about him,” the young woman wrote alongside a photo of her boyfriend.

Inés is 21 years old and Lamine is only 18, but the young forward has already had several girlfriends. Before starting this latest relationship with the content creator, he had a high-profile romance with Argentine singer Nicki Nicole. Alex Padilla was the footballer’s first known partner and his earliest love, gaining great popularity during Euro 2024. The media has also attributed a brief romance with British influencer Lily Rowland.

Although she appears dressed as a Sevillana in many of her Instagram photos and TikTok videos, Inés García is from La Mancha. Specifically, from the small municipality of Pepino, very close to Talavera de la Reina, in Toledo. After finishing high school, the young woman decided to move to the Andalusian city to study at university, and it is there that she has strengthened her successful presence on social media.

Calm about the growing media attention that her romance with Lamine Yamal is generating, she does not plan radical changes in her life for the moment. “I am restless and I need to do everything. And yes, I will continue living in Seville,” she confessed in an interview with El Mundo newspaper. “But I will be able to travel, because my new university is online,” she added before confirming that she is “very happy” with the Barça footballer.

The photos from the Seville April Fair mix on her Instagram wall with beach getaways and the essential appearances at events, increasingly common. With a rising follower count, Inés García has strengthened her profile as an influencer by joining In Management, a representation agency led by Dulceida.

Inés García Responds to Online Criticism

As the downside of her growing fame, Inés García has had to face numerous criticisms on social media about her relationship with Lamine Yamal. Specifically, some users have accused her of having broken up a five-year relationship to start dating the Spanish national team footballer.

The influencer had previously lamented that overexposure was the worst aspect of this new stage of her life. Eager to put an end to the controversy, she used her Instagram account to settle the matter. “It makes no sense. It has no substance. If we want to talk, we can talk about everything, but I think it’s silly. And that’s it,” concluded Inés García.
