Miguel Urdangarin, the third son of Infanta Cristina and her ex-husband, Iñaki Urdangarin, turns 24, happily settled in his discreet life in Madrid. Like the rest of his siblings, the nephew of Felipe and Letizia keeps away from the media spotlight while taking his first steps at work as a project analyst and strengthening his relationship with Olympia Beracasa. The two young people have already decided to move in together.

Inevitably, the recent publication of his father’s memoirs and the interviews to promote them have put Miguel Urdangarin and his siblings Pablo, Juan, and Irene in the crosshairs. In fact, as Iñaki Urdangarin acknowledged to the magazine ¡Hola!, it was he who encouraged him the most to write them. “Dad, your story has to be told. You have to write a book. Everyone tells you so; when you are known, everything is different,” were the young man’s words of encouragement.

The former handball player does not hide his pride and affection for his four children in the book, titled All That Has Been Lived. He tries not to miss any of Pablo’s matches and to stay in touch with Miguel, who has lived in London for several years, and he confesses that little Irene is his great weakness. He also lavishes praise on Miguel, when enumerating his virtues and passions.

“He has a superpower, intuition, and a gift, communication. He analyzes everything, explains himself marvelously, always hits the mark. He has a passion for nature and an adventurous soul, almost warrior-like,” says a proud Iñaki Urdangarin about his offspring. A deep analysis of the young man, which provides us with important data to know him better. Notably, until recently we only knew that he was living in Madrid after earning a degree in Marine Science at the University of Southampton.

Miguel Urdangarin and Olympia Beracasa’s New Life

Miguel Urdangarin completed his university studies in England in July 2023. It was then that he returned to Geneva with his mother, with the aim of becoming a ski instructor. An adventure that was thwarted due to an accident. After recovering, he moved to Madrid in 2024 to settle at the Zarzuela Palace with his grandmother, Queen Sofía.

For several months now, however, he has decided to become independent and now shares a rental apartment in the capital with his girlfriend, the Venezuelan Olympia Beracasa. They have known each other since they were in school together in Switzerland, but the spark between them happened in Madrid. The young woman, daughter of businessman Alfredo Beracasa and former American model Elizabeth Kane, is finishing her university studies and has been dating Miguel Urdangarin for two years.

The good rapport between Olympia Beracasa and Infanta Cristina has been evident since the start of her romantic relationship with Miguel Urdangarin, as we have observed every time the Venezuelan ran into her mother-in-law at the Granollers pavilion, where her brother-in-law Pablo plays. She is also very close to Irene Urdangarin, as we verified when the two even coordinated their outfits during the El Pardo luncheon to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Monarchy in Spain.

Miguel Urdangarin Is No Longer a NEET

“Miguel is in Madrid working at an investment fund.” This line from Iñaki Urdangarin during his interview on the Pla Seqüència program served to confirm the new professional direction of his discreet offspring. We soon learned more details about Miguel’s new job, which collaborates with a technology-oriented company linked to research projects, biodiversity and diverse scientific sectors.

After an initial experience doing unpaid internships as an investment analyst, Miguel Urdangarin is now applying his scientific training to technical advisory. His task is to evaluate research and biodiversity projects. For the moment, he remains in an early stage, taking on a junior role in a learning process.
