With a dress code like “Fashion Is Art” (fashion is art), the 76th edition of the Met Gala could not disappoint. No controversies, no ambiguity, and a union of two of the most beautiful realms we have: fashion and art. Thus, the red carpet dressed in gala attire, and down the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art we saw gowns inspired by paintings, sculptural designs, and looks filled with messages that confirm Friedrich Nietzsche’s declaration that “Without art, life would be a mistake.”

An invitation to understand fashion as art, body, history, and cultural power, which faces known faces like Beyoncé, Anna Wintour, Nicole Kidman, Anne Hathaway, or Gigi Hadid have reinterpreted in their own ways with styles that sparked a lot of talk. With more hits than misses and with sponsorship controversy from Jeff Bezos hovering over it, this has been the best of the Met Gala red carpet (this time green) of 2026.

Beyoncé

Ten years later and alongside her daughter Blue Ivy, who made her debut on this red carpet, Beyoncé won with this look created by Olivier Rousteing, former creative director of Balmain. She chose a mesh dress with a diamond skeleton that she wore together with an imposing cape of feathers with a train and a crown of thorns.

Rihanna

The singer wore one of the night’s most applauded looks thanks to this Maison Margiela by Glenn Martens, featuring a sculptural art-deco-inspired headpiece. A hand-shaped design crafted in duchesse satin with recycled metallic threads traditionally used for computer cabling, perfectly paired with makeup expertly crafted by Héctor Espinal with Fenty Beauty.

Georgina Rodríguez

The Spanish representation arrived in the form of the future wife of Cristiano Ronaldo, who chose this look by Belgian designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin, inspired by the Virgin of Fatima. A corseted dress paired with a veiled embroidered veil and a stunning rosary in hand, valued at 7 million euros, conceived as jewelry and relic.

Blake Lively

The actress, one of the best-dressed in Met Gala history, drew inspiration from 18th-century Venetian Rococo paintings with a pastel Versace gown dating from spring 2006. A design with embroidered stones and three-dimensional hip structures evoke the architecture of a Baroque church. She completed it with a bag decorated with drawings of her four children.

Nicole Kidman

The actress opted for a Chanel custom gown, a red color dressed in red sequins and adorned with feather appliqués at the hip and on the cuffs of the sleeves. With a train, an Omega watch, and a spectacular XL blonde mane, the actress posed alongside her daughter Sunday Rose, who made her debut at the event.

Katy Perry

The singer played a game of misdirection by appearing on the stairs with a mask that concealed her face and that she unveiled minutes later. As for the look, she wore a satin dress with a train, crafted from Italian duchess satin deadstock viscose—forest-friendly and repurposed from leftover tailoring fabrics, according to Stella McCartney.

Emma Chamberlain

She arrived early and also made a splash with a personalized Mugler by Miguel Castro Freitas, hand-painted by artist Anna Deller-Yee, turning Chamberlain’s body into a literal canvas. A piece with artistic references, including works by Van Gogh and Munch.

Cara Delevingne

The model opted for this black halter-neck Ralph Lauren gown that stood out for the peacock embroidered detail on the back. The rear design was completely sheer and her nude body was concealed by these black appliqués.

Ashley Graham

The model wore a nude Di Petsa dress that referenced the drenched-draping technique characteristic of classical Greek art. She boasted a no-makeup makeup look by Kabuki for Revlon that surprised many.

Anna Wintour

Again, Vogue’s global editor chose Chanel to attend as host once more. And she did so with this Matthieu Blazy design featuring turquoise and black feathers with a lot of volume.

Lauren Sánchez

Lauren Sánchez and her husband Jeff Bezos became the Met Gala’s first sponsors, and her look was one of the night’s most anticipated. She chose a Schiaparelli design based on a 1884 painting by John Singer Sargent of socialite Virginie Amélie Avegno Gautreau, Portrait of Madame X.

Anne Hathaway

The Devil Wears Prada star nailed it with this hand-painted dress from Michael Kors Collection, designed in collaboration with prominent American artist Peter McGough and inspired by John Keats’ poem, “Ode on a Grecian Urn.”

Gigi Hadid

The model chose a Miu Miu design for the second year in a row. This time she opted for a black sheer gown adorned with hotfix crystals, patchwork flames, and floral embroidery.

Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde attended the 2026 Met Gala in a custom Thom Browne design representing “the abstract body.” The dress, a tight black gown with a Bardot neckline, features a long white tulle cage train that distorts or redefines the body’s anatomy. She paired it with the Jimmy Choo Bonny clutch.

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner, a regular Met Gala guest, wore a spectacular Schiaparelli illusionista dress that combines a sculpted nude torso with a jeweled corseted dress that falls at the waist as if it had just been removed from her body.

Kendall Jenner

Something similar was recreated by model Kendall Jenner on the neckline with a Gap Studio by Zac Posen look. She paired it with Buccellati jewelry and flawless L’Oréal Paris makeup.

Irina Shayk

Irina Shayk was another star who drew attention with her look. With a low-waist black skirt and Alexander Wang’s train, the model wore a completely bare torso adorned with a jeweled bra top and several watches worn as bracelets and a choker. A perfect analogy of the body and the passage of time.

Naomi Watts

The Dior chosen by the actress divided opinions. It was a black design with a strapless neckline and floral appliqués that matched perfectly with the headpiece she chose to complete the look.

Hailey Bieber

The model did not fully convince with a Saint Laurent custom dress formed by a corseted bodice made entirely of 24-karat gold and a blue silk chiffon skirt.

Madonna

The singer stood out thanks to this Saint Laurent look consisting of a long black lace dress that remained in the shadows due to the imposing boat-shaped headpiece.

Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson wore look 27 from Matières Fécales, an indie label from the Fall 2026 season, a collection designed to caricature and mock the ultra-rich. A bold choice to wear this at a gala presided over by one of the wealthiest men on the planet.

Emily Blunt

The actress was among the simplest of the night with a black lace short-sleeve bodysuit by Ashi Studio, featuring a structured high neck and delicate tassels falling in a controlled motion from the shoulders, paired with impeccably tailored black pants and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Margot Robbie

Thus the actress from Wuthering Heights attended this gala with a gold lamé strapless gown featuring a cascading train lined with flower petals. Chanel’s atelier spent 761 hours and nearly 1,100 embroidery pieces. She also wore Chanel haute jewelry—Golden Sillage earrings, Golden Braid rings, and the Lion Emblématique.

Kim Kardashian

Kim turned to British pop artist Allen Jones to craft her Met Gala look. The expert created an amber-orange fiberglass armor from a reused 1967-68 mold. For the bottom, Kim enlisted the artisans Patrick Whitaker and Keir Malem of Whitaker Malem, commissioning a coordinating leather skirt. She also wore an artistic and minimalist glam by Mario Dedivanovic.

Heidi Klum

The model, with the help of Prosthetic Makeup artist Mike Marino, transformed into the “Veiled Vestal” by Raffaele Monti, a Neoclassical sculpture emblematic of 1847 that, thanks to her, has come to life.

Teyana Taylor

What is the hooded dress by Tom Ford for Haider Ackermann made for Teyana like? The actress wore “a custom-made dress, hand-embroidered in full, comprised of cascading ice-gray silk fringe, luminous lamé, and crystal beads that fall from a crystal-embedded mesh. The sculptural silhouette features a mermaid shape with a corset and impeccably cut shoulders, balancing strength and precision. A flowing hood extends from the neckline, outlining the neck before merging into a draped neckline,” explain the house.

Kate Moss

Dressed in Yves Saint Laurent, the model exuded elegance in this black lace dress. A design without ostentation, but with sheer elements she defended magnificently with a bold red lip as the only accessory.

Karlien Kloss

The model opted for one of the most important dresses from the first Dior collection designed by Jonathan Anderson. A white, structured design with a rigid balloon skirt, paired with green heels and the Jimmy Choo Bonny clutch.

Sabrina Carpenter

The pop star used the Met Gala to pay homage to both her name and to cinema, arriving in a striking dress made of cellulose that reproduced the poster of a classic film. It was a Jonathan Anderson for Dior design made from negatives of the Sabrina film, starring Audrey Hepburn.

Venus Williams

As a co-host of Met Gala 2026, she dazzled in a Swarovski crystal mesh dress inspired by Venus Williams’ Double Portrait (2022) by Robert Pruitt, a portrait commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery. The necklace, meanwhile, is a recreation of the Wimbledon-inspired collar appearing in the painting, incorporating symbols of her family and her career, along with nods to the historic fight for equal pay in tennis and to the early Black champions of the sport.
